Referat:
Urban sustainability analysis and appraisal involves multiple stakeholders using various disparate sources of information. There is therefore a need for a common format for representing and storing information in a common repository to facilitate shared use and multi-perspective analysis. Based on a series of semantically-rich conceptual models developed previously, which capture the semantics and relationships between geospatial and non-geospatial data in urban environments, a non-geographic urban information database - UrbaND - is set up in Microsoft SQL server-based database system. This UrbaND database stores the integrated information for the analysis and evaluation of urban planning and design. It aims to serve the queries from the authorized online users. This urban information database is also designed to be able to connect to the personal geospatial databases in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The intention is to improve information integration for urban planning and design. This paper presents the information regarding the research methodologies, the conceptual models, the database tables and the application methods of the database including making the connection to the OSMM geo-spatial database and accessing this SQL database.
